Documents Needed to File Your Tax Return
Here is a list of documents that are likely needed to file your tax return. You may not need all of them.
- Forms W-2 from your employer(s)
- Form 1099-INT if you were paid interest
- Form 1099-DIV if you were paid dividends
- Form 1099-B from your brokers
- Form 1099-G if you received unemployment compensation and/or state tax refund
- Form 1099-R if you received pension, annuity or retirement plan distributions
- Form 1099-K if you received payments for gig economy
- Form 1099-MISC if you received payments for rent, royalties and other income (prize winnings, legal
- fees etc.)
- Form 1099-NEC if you received payments as an independent contractor
- Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement, to reconcile advance payments or claims
- Form 8949, Sales and other Dispositions of Capital Assets
- Form 8962, Premium Tax Credits for 2022 Marketplace coverage
- Other income documents and records of digital asset transactions
